Student Leadership Candidate Evaluation Rubric
This rubric is to be used by all students to provide feedback on all student leadership candidates
Gracious Professionalism
This person treats everyone with respect and kindness, even when in direct competition.
4 (Exceeds Expectations)
- On top of all previously listed criteria, this person goes out of their way to include teammates, community members, etc. in the activities of KnightKrawler.
3 (Meets Expectations)
- This person is kind and respectful to all members and mentors. They utilize appropriate language and behaviors for the team.
2 (Approaches Expectations)
- This person displays GP behavior most of the time and may occasionally use derogatory comments towards other teams/robots and/or select teammates.
1 (Does Not Meet Expectations)
- This person often displays behavior that is unkind or offensive to others in a professional environment.
Dedication
This person strives to be at every event and meeting. Not only do they attend, but they contribute meaningfully.
4 (Exceeds Expectations)
- This person consistently attends meetings and continues to contribute outside of regular meeting hours to contribute uniquely and meaningfully to the team.
3 (Meets Expectations)
- This person consistently attends meetings to contribute reliably and meaningfully to the team.
2 (Approaches Expectations)
- This person attends half of or most of all meetings and has made some contributions to their subteam.
1 (Does Not Meet Expectations)
- This person rarely attends meetings and rarely communicates with their subteam.
Growth
This person strives to be curious in utilizing a wealth of innovative, adaptable, and iterative processes in tackling challenges.
4 (Exceeds Expectations)
- This person is an expert who brings many ideas and techniques for solving a problem to the table, which they are able to communicate effectively to mentors and teammates while being open to new ideas.
3 (Meets Expectations)
- This person is knowledgeable in various techniques to troubleshoot common problems on their subteam and come up with some solutions for individual or team questions. They are curious and open to learning.
2 (Approaches Expectations)
- This person has ideas on how to troubleshoot or problem-solve, but needs significant help in either presenting the idea or executing it.
1 (Does Not Meet Expectations)
- This person needs adult or teammate prompting to engage in the design process, team activities, or other troubleshooting.
Structure
This person is organized and communicates well. This person should know what to do next and how to ask for help.
4 (Exceeds Expectations)
- This person models the organization and communication methods needed for the team. They are the resource others on the team approach when they are stuck.
3 (Meets Expectations)
- This person uses Slack and other modes of communication effectively. They know what to do in relation to the team’s objectives, as well as resources to use when they are stuck.
2 (Approaches Expectations)
- This person does not reliably follow up on Slack/email/etc. but is able to communicate and work effectively in person with mentor or captain guidance.
1 (Does Not Meet Expectations)
- This person is unsure of what they need to be working on most of the time and is not reliably reached on Slack/email.
Unflappability
This person stays cool under pressure. They solve problems quickly while being constructive.
4 (Exceeds Expectations)
- This person is able to calm others in high-stress situations and is able to take others through a process of prioritizing and executing tasks under pressure.
3 (Meets Expectations)
- This person is able to organize, prioritize, and execute tasks under pressure respectfully in groups or individually. They are reliable under pressure.
2 (Approaches Expectations)
- This person is inconsistent in their responses to problems and has been observed a couple of times this season responding to stress inappropriately.
1 (Does Not Meet Expectations)
- This person responds to setbacks by shutting down, using inappropriate language, or blaming others.
